Supportive Living (or Designated Assisted Living) offers extra support to residents such as health monitoring and personal care, along with help with meals, bathing and laundry. There is also 24-hour access to an on-call Registered Nurse.
Live in your own space, visit a friend, do everything you would in a private apartment, but with the added assurance of 24-hour personal care. Designated Assisted Living (DAL) is available at the Seniors’ Residence at the Colonel Belcher and Carewest Nickle House.
Through a unique partnership with a private developer, the Senior’s Residence at the Colonel Belcher offers extra support to residents such as health monitoring and personal care, along with help with meals, bathing and laundry.
You pay for room and board, personal expenses such as laundry and medications. Financial assistance for medical equipment and health care supplies may be available from Alberta Aids to Daily Living. Alberta Health Services pays for your health care.
To learn whether or not you qualify for Supportive Living, you first have to be assessed by a Home Care Coordinator who will recommend whether or not assisted living will be suitable for you.
If you are a Home Care client, request assessment from your Home Care Coordinator or by calling 943-1600. If you aren’t a Home Care client, please phone 943-1920 for an assessment for Home Care. You have to be a Home Care client or an acute care patient to access Supportive Living.
