For Health Care Aides, Nursing Attendants and Resident Assistants, Carewest recognizes individuals who have graduated from a personal care aide program, and/or who have a minimum of two years experience in a long-term care facility.

Community Care Assistants require a valid Alberta Drivers License and a reliable vehicle.

Certification as a Health Care Aide or equivalent required. Graduation from Grade 12 required.

Qualifications:

Reporting directly to the Client Service Manager, the Health Care Aide (HCA) is an unregulated member of the interprofessional health care team who provides on-going client care. The HCA observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in physical and emotional status. The HCA ensures that changes in client status are reporterd to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). This position delivers prescribed medications accurately as per policy and procedure. In Keeping with Carewest’s Frame of Reference, Philosophy of Care and Carewest policies, this position maintains professional and ethical standards at all times. Responsible for other related duties as required

  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English is required
  • Must be physically capable of managing the frequent lifting, transferring and repositioning of clients
  • Related experience in a healthcare facility an asset
  • Program specific training/experience is an asset
