Living at Carewest
At Carewest, our philosophy doesn’t end with how we provide care, but also the environment in which we provide it. We strive to create a safe environment based on resident choice and independence, “whole person” care delivery, a continuous learning, team-based service delivery, and ongoing quality improvement.
With 13 locations in Calgary, Carewest offers 18 unique programs and services to Calgarians of all ages in long-term care, rehabilitation and recovery and community day programs.
Working at Carewest
At Carewest, we believe offering excellent care to our clients and residents starts with our staff. We’ve worked hard – and continue to work hard – to be an employer of choice. We’re good at what we do because great care requires great staff.

Your donation touches lives every day by enhancing the quality of life for our residents and clients or improving Carewest programs at our many locations. Thanks to your generosity, we are helping to provide the resources to deliver the enhanced continuing care services for our community.
Carewest - Innovative health care
At Carewest, we strive to be forward thinking and approach things differently in the hopes of bringing value to our residents, clients, volunteers and staff. We continually ask ourselves: “how can we do this better?” New ideas and fresh thinking have been our cornerstone, helping take us from where we were more than half a century ago to the progressive health care organization we are today. We believe as strongly in responsiveness, evolution and growth as we do in our, history, foundation and experience.
As Calgary’s largest public care provider of its kind and one of the largest in Canada, Carewest operates 13 locations aimed at helping people live more independent lives. Our spectrum of care is available to adults of all ages and includes long-term care, rehabilitation and recovery services, and community programs and services. We pride ourselves on our ability to change with the community’s needs and we do our best to predict what those needs may be in the future. Innovative thinking brought us here – imagine where it can take us.

Our staff are hired for the skills and knowledge that they possess; but are also hired for their attitude and heart. The technical part of the work we do needs to be done well. How we do these things is equally important, which is why all our staff are encouraged to bring their hearts to work.
Carewest volunteers contribute in a meaningful and significant way to the day-to-day lives of many people in our organization, and our programs continues to grow with new and exciting opportunities for volunteers interested in working in our rehabilitation and recovery programs or with long-term care residents.
Donors make a difference
Donors play a significant role in supporting leading-edge equipment such as fixed-ceiling and portable-floor lifts and electric beds. Beyond the need for vital equipment needs, less tangible needs – such as a comfortable environment, a special meal or a sense of joy – can also be attained through donations.
